Port capacity in light of offshore wind expansion plans and objectives

Havnebillede (måske)

Projektbeskrivelse

The purpose of the project is to map the need for port capacity in light of Denmark’s expansion plans and political targets for offshore wind.

The green transition requires a massive build‑out of offshore wind, and toward 2030 the Danish offshore wind capacity must more than quintuple. At the same time, wind turbines are becoming larger, and the components heavier. This places pressure on Danish ports, which play a central role in the installation of offshore wind turbines.
The ambition of the CIP Foundation’s project is to map the future need for port capacity – including areas, deep-water quays, and crane-capable quays – with a view to identifying potential bottlenecks that could, over time, delay the green transition and weaken Danish innovation, employment, and exports.
